Coen Brothers onboard to write Speilberg's Cold War Movie

By Rod ONeill  @rodoneill

Oscar winners Joel and Ethan Coen are reported to be onboard to write the screenplay for the untitled Cold War thriller, rumored to be directed by Steven Speilberg.

Tom Hanks has also been confirmed to star in the film which would make this the fourth time the Actor and Director have teamed up (Saving Private Ryan, The Terminal, Catch Me If You Can). As well as being attached to direct the adaptation of Roald Dahl's The BFG in 2015, Speilberg has several possible feature films in the works; a religious period drama being developed by DreamWorks and The Weinstein Company; Robopocalypse, based on the science fiction novel by Daniel H. Wilson and Montezuma, which documents the Spanish conquest of Mexico led by Conquistador Hernán Cortés and his dealings with the famed Aztec ruler.

The Coen Brothers have won screenplay Oscars for their films No Country For Old Men and Fargo and are known for writing and directing their own films. But their recent gig writing the screenplay for the Angeline Jolie-Directed film Unbroken, shows a change of trend for the brothers.  Aside from the collaboration on True Grit, with Speilberg as producer, this will be the first time the trio have worked together on a feature film.

Tom Hanks first worked with the brothers in 2004, starring in their film The Ladykillers.

We're pretty excited about this news and hope The Coen Brothers, Speilberg and Hanks get to make this happen. What's you thoughts? Leave a comment down below.
