Godzilla smashed its way into cinemas this weekend, claiming the title of number one and also the biggest opening weekend in Australia for the year so far with a massive $6.7m.
Seth Rogen and Zac Efron comedy Bad Neighbours, kept up nicely in its second official weekend (it burnt off some demand with advance screenings) with $3.1m ($11.9m total). Solid word of mouth is keeping Bad Neighbours rolling and it'll keep going for a while yet.
The Other Woman slowed pace a bit with $1.0m ($18.4m total), the romcom has been a bit of surprise hit even managing to outgross The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($15m total). Jon Favreau's Chef held over nicely with only a 26% drop, taking in $0.6m ($1.7m total). The Grand Budapest Hotel took in $0.5m ($10.5m total) in its sixth week of release, this will likely be the last week it makes the top five.
Around the World
Godzilla blasted Neighbours off the top perch with a staggering $93.1m (196.5m worldwide) opening weekend, based on solid word of mouth and with China and Japan still yet to see it. It's likely Godzilla will close out well north of $600m worldwide by the end of its run.
